Trump reveals China trade meeting was positive

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that recent trade discussions between American officials and China went well, and he anticipates meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping later this year.

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump referenced US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s two-day negotiations in Sweden with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, saying that Bessent "had a very good meeting with China."

Trump added, "They are going to brief me tomorrow. We'll either approve it or not," noting that Bessent "felt very good about the meeting, better than he felt yesterday."

The president also confirmed plans to meet Xi Jinping soon, mentioning that the Chinese leader "wants to meet."

Trump concluded, "And I look forward to the meeting too, but I would say before the end of the year," as he returned to the United States from Scotland.
