Iowa 2026 property tax reform ranked #1 in the nation
A Common Sense Institute report ranked Iowa’s 2026 property tax reform #1 in the nation for reduction in tax burden by a single piece of legislation over the last decade.
“Whether viewed relative to statewide personal income or on a per household basis, Iowa’s 2026 property tax reforms constitute the largest property tax reductions in the nation over the last decade,” the Institute stated, adding that “Iowa’s 2023 reform ranks in the top five by both metrics” and projecting that these “reforms will significantly increase the state’s tax competitiveness.”
“I’m proud that Republicans kept our promise to Iowans with this year’s property tax reform and created another $4.2 billion in tax savings over the next six years,” said Gov. Kim Reynolds. “This report confirms that we’re not only delivering for our state but also leading the nation in meaningful tax relief for working families.”
